I haven’t decided what my December challenge will be….. any ideas?  I’m feeling revved up again, look out world!

I also need to bring the Christmas decorations up.   Saturday the 30th is my decorating day!  WooHoo!  I just love decorating for Christmas.

We headed off to see the hubbs’ mom today, bringing her chocolate, french bread and brie – what more could a French woman want?  =)  We took her out to a nice lunch, and she was in good spirits, despite being in a lot of pain with sciatica.

I am still sore from yesterday’s workout, so I waited until this evening to do my bike/weights.

Nothing beats a little Scandal while spinning!! Anyone else totally addicted?  I am!!  Got a nice stretch, let the body work the kinks out and now just relaxing!  I’m watching my cat sleep on the family room rug and I’m just melting from the cuteness…..

Hope your weekend was fabulous!!

Being Productive

I took this week off to transition from my old job to my new one.  It’s been a very pleasant, very productive week.

It started by saying goodbye to my team.  Everyone signed a card and they bought me flowers.  Of course I spent most of the day wiping the tears away.  It is an emotional thing, saying goodbye to a place you called home for 8 years.  I learned so much, was challenged, experienced much success, met some amazing people.  It was a great place to be, and I was sad to see it end.

But on to new things!!  I am super excited to start my new job.

Had a great workout week!  It’s amazing what you can do when you don’t have to work.  LOL!  But I also got a lot of outstanding items crossed off my list, so it was a busy week nonetheless.  Oil change and car maintenance, Molly to the vet, got my hair done, saw the parents, hit a farmer’s market for our pumpkins, lots of little things done around the house and lots of cleaning.   Here’s some random photos from my week:

Looking back (and forward!)-

Saturday – 3 mile run
Sunday – 4 mile walk and sculpting circuit
Monday – The Biggest Loser High Impact Cardio and Strength and Sculpt
Tuesday – Rest Day
Wednesday – 3 mile walk and 10 mile stationary bike w/speed intervals
Thursday – Rest day.  Crazy busy day of errands, getting my hair done and dinner with my parents.
Friday – Bob Harper’s Ultimate Cardio Body
Saturday – 15 mile stationary bike w/speed intervals and Pilates
Sunday – The Biggest Loser Bootcamp

On Sunday, I get to have lunch with my sisters and see my niece and nephew which is always a joy.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful week!

Dreaming of Autumn

Something wonderful is in the air.  It is a magical time of the year!

You walk into a store…. and you see a couple of sweaters.  Jeans, long sleeve tops. But the best part is that DSW puts out their fist boots!  I LOVE it!  I am absolutely in love with Fall, and when I see those lovely leather tall riding boots lining the aisles of DSW, I start to swoon.

I can’t resist.

I just had to have these.  Aren’t they pretty?  I’m dreaming of skinny jeans, orange, yellow and red leaves, crisp autumn air, cute sweaters and scarves.

Can’t wait until they arrive!

The Best Moment Award

Last week, I got a notification that the incredible 278toBoston nominated me for a Best Moment Award.  How awesome is that??  Please go check him out.  2 years ago, he was 278 pounds and now he is weeks away from running a full Marathon.  He is inspirational to me and a big reason why I keep pushing myself to run.

Here are the rules:

1. Display the award logo

2. Link back to the person who nominated you

3. State 7 things about yourself

1.  I am happily married to a fantastic man I met on match.com.  We bonded over a shared love of Apple and Star Trek.  I was a goner.

2.  I actually enjoy doing the laundry.

3.  I love being active.  I love the feeling of movement and strength.  Walking, running, lifting, biking.  To actually see yourself getting stronger is a powerful emotion!

4.  I love to make jewelry.  I don’t sell it (yet), but I make it because it relaxes me and I love creating beautiful things.

5.  I love to travel and I have often said if I was independently wealthy, I would never work another day in my life.  I would never be bored.  I would see the world, educate myself and spend the rest of my life experiencing other cultures.

6.  I wish I had musical talent.  I would love to be able to play an instrument – the piano!

7.  I am becoming quite the chef.  Watching and learning from the hubbs has helped me be more confident in my creations.  I love cooking and baking!

4. Nominate 15 (or however many you can) other bloggers for this award. There are some awesome bloggers out there, and I am thrilled that I get to read their stories and share some of their lives.  Hope you get to know them as well!

Drive By on the Way to the Beach

Today was a crazy busy day getting things together for tomorrow!  Oil change, pedicure, store run, laundry, packing….. I am leaving for Cape May, NJ tomorrow morning and am so excited.  The hubbs is staying home, and I am looking forward to reconnecting with my sister, a friend and my Aunt.  Should be a fun gal’s weekend!

I am bringing the workout gear and sneakers because I will need to get my sweat on after the wine and bubbly.  Haha.  It looks like it will be a beautiful weekend so I’m looking forward to some boardwalk runs and lots of walking!

I ran outside for about 1.5 miles today, then followed that with The Biggest Loser High Impact Cardio and Strength and Sculpt.  Oy.  Sweated like a beast and felt great.  There is no greater drug than exercise.  Am I right??

I do want to say thank you to 278toBoston for nominating me for a Best Moment Award.  I love his blog, so go check him out.  Crazy motivational for my running.   I will post my response when I get back.

Until then, be good, eat well, move that body and lift those weights!

Have Fun!!

The other day, I went to visit my niece and nephew.  My niece is 6 1/2 and my nephew is 5.  They are too flipping adorable for words and I love them dearly.

One thing I’ve noticed about kids is the wonder and gusto they have for everything around them.  They love for me to twirl them around, lift them up, spin them around.  I will do it, they laugh and squeal, and say “Do it again Aunt Sharon!” No matter how many times I’ve done it, if my arms feel like they are going to fall off, even if I say “Ok , one more time”, it’s always “Do it again!”  We dance and laugh and I tickle their belly buttons.

Once they find something they love, they want to keep doing it over and over again.  It doesn’t get boring to them.  They twirl and run and climb and laugh and pretend.  It is amazing to watch.

And it always makes me wonder – “when does that start to fade?’  Because it does, in everyone.  Life and responsibilities take over.  We can enjoy and love life, but there is always a time when that fun ends (hopefully temporarily).

I got to thinking of my workouts and I definitely have found myself smiling and laughing along the way.  Doesn’t happen all the time, that is for sure!  But my mission is that from now on, I will try and tackle all my workouts with the vigor of my cuties.  I will focus on how good it feels to move, how strong my body feels, how flexible I feel.  I will try to capture that child-like feeling.

What workout do you do that you truly find “fun”?  What brings you that child-like joy?

Friend Makin’ Monday!

Happy Monday everyone!  It has been a rainy, gloomy day here in NY.  I got 3 sweaty miles in on the treadmill today (emphasis on sweaty) and felt amazing.

Hot damn, that’s an unflattering photo.  The things I do for fitness….  Covered in liquid awesome!

Quick trip to Target, because everyone needs a new bathing suit, tissues, gum, swiffer sweepers and nail polish (Target gets me every time!), and now just relaxing before dinner.  Lemon pepper tilapia and steamed broccoli are on the menu tonight.

Ok, on to FMM!

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

The Internet

1.  Have you ever met anyone online before meeting them in person?  Yes, my husband!  I met him on match.com.  We are a success story!

2.  What is your opinion on social media’s impact on our society?  Does it make life better or worse?  Honestly, I believe it has been a blessing and a curse.  I think it has connected us in ways we could not have imagined and has allowed us to touch and be touched by people all over the world.  I do think that it has made us less self reliant and decreased our personal responsibility.  Back in the days before the cell phone, if your tire blew out, you had better know how to change a tire or prepare to walk miles to a pay phone.  We were more accountable to our lives.  Now, everything or anyone we could possible need is a simple touch away.  Technology is amazing, but I believe we need places and experiences not arranged by the hands of men.

3.  Do you believe that it’s possible to fall in love with someone that you’ve never met in person?  I don’t know if it “falling in love”, but I believe a different (but very real) kind of connection forms when the intimacy is only in verbal form.  I think a successful relationship has both the intellectual and physical connection.

4.  Do you prefer to shop in stores or online?  Both.  I love trolling around store’s websites checking things out.  Now that I am thinner, I am always unsure of my size, so in person is usually better.

5.  What blogging platform do you use?  (WordPress, Blogger, something else?)  Wordpress

6.  Have you ever blogged for another site?  Would you?  No, but I’d love too.  Anyone want to do some guest blogging??

7.  Do you use services like Netflix and Hulu?  Netflix or DVR.  It’s really hard to catch new TV on my schedule.  I love to revisit old series that I loved (Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Fringe, Buffy, etc) via Netflix.

8.  Would you prefer to get blog comments or to interact on twitter?  Both.  I have not figured out Twitter yet.  I have tried to establish connections with people on Twitter, but it seems like I am always 2 steps behind.

9.  Do you prefer to read books or e-books?  I love the ease of having many, many books with me on my iPad, but I am still a fan of a good old fashioned book.  I love the smell!

10.  Share at least one experience that you would not have had without being a blog author. I have been inspired by so many fellow bloggers on WordPress and other sites.  I believe my success so far has come from that support.  It’s been an awesome experience so far!

Hope everyone has a beautiful evening!!!

Chocolate, chocolate everywhere!

Hershey, PA’s tagline is “The Sweetest Place on Earth”.  And that is 100% correct.  There is chocolate EVERYWHERE you go.  At check in.  At turn down.  At the attractions.  Chocolate everywhere.

I was a weak, weak woman.

But we had an absolute blast.  The theme of the weekend was to be kids again.  We rode a lot of coasters, rides, played games, ate chocolate.  It was awesome.

We stayed at the Hotel Hershey, which is stunning.

We even got to make our own chocolate bars at Chocolate World.  Mine was dark chocolate, raspberry pieces, pretzel bits, semi sweet chocolate chips.

Thank goodness we were only there for 2 days.  It would have been really, really bad.  I’m seeing the effect on the scale, and I don’t like it, but I have no one to blame but myself.  All I can do is pull myself up, dust myself off and get my ass back to work.

Broke out my Leslie Sansone 4 fast miles yesterday morning, burned 600 calories.  Ate really well yesterday, lots of veggies, fruit and water.

Bob’s Red Mill High Fiber cereal
Sliced strawberries

Mid Morning
Coconut milk yogurt

Luna Fiber Bar
Coconut pieces
Weight Watchers mini cake

Kashi Soft Baked Square

Big salad – spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, peppers, mushrooms, chick peas, turkey
Homemade dressing – 1 tsp olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, spices
Unsweetened applesauce

I hit 27 points (-4) and felt great.  Onward and upward!

Wishing everyone a beautiful week!

Boston Bound!

Oooooo, so excited for Boston!  Not loving the idea of driving though a tropical storm, but whatever!  Can’t get pissed about things I cannot change, like the weather.  It’s going to rain buckets, but my spirit will not be dampened!!  We will have a blast with the other Trekkies on Saturday, and try to soak up as much of the city as we can.

See ya’ll on Monday!

Don’t forget to get your sweat on!
